Wash-Down Requirements for IPX4 Rated Forklifts

IPX4 rated electric forklifts are widely applied in scenarios that demand regular deep cleaning, including food processing workshops, pharmaceutical production lines, cold chain storage sites and livestock breeding facilities, where standardized wash-down operations are required to meet strict local hygiene regulations. The IPX4 protection rating is designed to prevent damages from water splashing coming from any direction, but users still need to follow corresponding operation rules to avoid breaking the original waterproof structure of the equipment. Before starting any wash-down work, operators should cut off all external power connections, turn off the main power switch of the whole forklift, pull out the operation key and let the device rest for at least 3 minutes, so that residual current inside the equipment can be fully released to prevent short circuit risks. During the washing process, the water pressure should be controlled below 10 bar, and it is forbidden to use high pressure water gun to spray directly onto the controller interfaces, battery poles, ventilation openings, instrument panel and motor wiring terminals. It is recommended to use low pressure water mist combined with neutral non-corrosive cleaning agents to wipe off surface stains, food residues and production waste gently. After finishing the wash-down, operators should wipe all exposed water stains with dry non-dusting soft cloth immediately, absorb remaining accumulated water in wiring gaps, under foot pads and body connection gaps specially, then park the forklift in a well ventilated dry area for at least 2 hours. Do not start test operation or put the forklift back into service before all components are fully dried, to prevent hidden troubles of internal oxidation and rust. If abnormal water seepage phenomenon is found during or after washing, stop operation immediately and contact professional after-sales technical personnel for full inspection, do not disassemble electrical parts privately in case of damaging the original waterproof seal.
