Heat-resistant electric forklifts rely on an efficient thermal management system to maintain safe operating temperatures for batteries and electric motors, especially in high-temperature environments such as foundries, glass factories, or outdoor summer operations. The principle behind this system is straightforward: it actively dissipates excess heat generated during heavy-duty cycles while preventing overheating of critical components.
The core of the system consists of a closed-loop liquid cooling circuit. A coolant mixture—typically water and ethylene glycol—circulates through a cooling jacket surrounding the battery pack and motor. A powerful electric pump drives the coolant at a controlled flow rate. As the coolant absorbs heat, it flows to a front-mounted radiator equipped with a high-static-pressure fan. The fan draws ambient air through the radiator fins, transferring heat from the coolant to the air. To ensure consistent performance in dusty or debris-laden environments, the radiator often features corrosion-resistant coatings and a protective mesh.
A thermostatic control valve regulates coolant flow based on real-time temperature readings. When temperatures rise above a preset threshold, the valve opens fully, allowing maximum cooling capacity. During lighter loads, it restricts flow to prevent overcooling and reduce energy consumption. Additionally, the system uses a vented expansion tank to accommodate coolant expansion and maintain pressure balance. For extreme heat resistance, some designs incorporate a secondary air-cooling loop with a dedicated fan for the inverter and control electronics.
This thermal management approach ensures that Jianshu New Energy’s electric forklift solutions can sustain peak performance without thermal derating. When integrated with BYD Forklift’s proven chassis and powertrain, the system delivers reliable operation even under continuous high-temperature conditions.
